IOM: One billion migrants on the move in 2011

An estimated one billion people, a seventh of the world’s population, have been on the move this year, according to an annual report of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). But an increasing number of these migrants are being forced to use illegal methods to migrate. Because of stricter border control, many end up in the hands of people traffickers.

Jerome Longue asked IOM Director General William Swing why migrants are finding it more difficult to travel.
