ODYSSEIA November 2012: The struggle for migrant domestic workers' rights!
Around the world, millions of domestic workers clean, cook, look after children and elderly people and do other tasks for private households. Many of these workers are migrant workers facing harsh working conditions and who are at a heightened risk of exploitation. In this new edition of Odysseia we are therefore paying special attention to the 12-by-12 Campaign, launched by the ITUC in December 2011 in partnership with a wide range of civil society organizations. You can listen to a report on migrant domestic workers in and from Asia and you will find feature interviews with Rudi Delarue (Director EU Office of the ILO), Marieke Koning (12-by-12 campaign coordinator at the ITUC) and Myrtle Witbooi (Chair of the International Domestic Workers' Network).
Odysseia editions and reports can be re-broadcast for free, we actually encourage you to do so and let us know. But please do give credit to Radio1812 and to our reporters Ruth Reichstein, Nina Haase and Jenni Roth.
The transcript for this edition is attached.
