Testimony of a Filippino migrant worker in Canada
Testimony of a Filipino machinist who came to Canada through the temporary foreign worker program. During the interview, he recounts the wage discrimination and racist bullying he faced in the workplace. In addition, he speaks to his experience as a union-organizer working in a militarized free-trade zone in the Philippines and to the conditions that give rise to migration for many Filipino workers.
The show also features an interview with IWC community organizer Amy Darwish, who discusses “permanent temporariness”, migrant worker organizing, and the structural problems inherent in the temporary foreign worker program.
