Around the world, millions of domestic workers clean, cook, look after children and elderly people and do other tasks for private households. Many of these workers are migrant workers facing harsh working conditions and who are at a heightened risk of exploitation. In this new edition of Odysseia we are therefore paying special attention to the 12-by-12 Campaign, launched by the ITUC in December 2011 in partnership with a wide range of civil society organizations.

Juliette Hallaire, Mue M'Puati and Bokn (known to his family as Mathieu) are just three of the large teams of volunteers and artists making possible the Migrant'Scène festival this week in Nantes. In conjunction with La Cimade, an organisation working for the rights of illegal migrants to France, they have put together an event which takes as its starting point the role of the sea in population movement.

In 2008, a program called Voices for Change began in Cambodia. The program began with a vision to provide survivors of human trafficking with the opportunity to have their voices heard all around the world.

But the program doesn’t just aim to help survivors of human trafficking: it’s also run by survivors of human trafficking, aiming to “to give survivors the opportunity to help themselves by helping others”.
