North London Aspire Partnership I Refugee Week Radio

For Refugee Week 2007, London Link Radio worked with staff and participants of the North London Aspire Partnership to produce a radio programme, which was broadcast on Refugee Week Radio. During a series of short training sessions, participants learnt basic interviewing and recording techniques using portable digital recorders. They then recorded interviews and personal contributions, which were edited on computer. The programme begins with UCRA project officer Chinelo Ezenwa being interviewed by trainee Yollande.

A group of Francophone young people from Congo, Sierra Leone and Guinea living in London undertook training for 4 weeks and then made a programme focusing on the issues going on back home and those that face them here in London. It tackles corruption and world economics in Africa, teenage pregnancy in London and features a track written and recorded by the group. The young people were supported in this project by a charity, Nous Aussi, which works to help young French speaking people get back in touch with their history and culture.
