Hidden Issues of Labour Migration
During the Global Media Forum in Bonn in June, the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre organized a workshop on ‘Labour Migration and Hideen Issues’. Speaking at the workshop were Papias Banados, a domestic worker in Singapore who has recently published a book of short stories about the labour migration experience of Overseas Filipino Workers and Syed Saiful Haque from the Welfare Association of Repatriated Bangladeshi Employees in Bangladesh. In this radio feature they talk about the role of recruitment agents in particular in the exploitation of migrant workers. The program is presented by Tharuka Prematileka.
